We all know that a smart watch is a multifunctional product that support our technological devices such as smart phones, tablets, laptops and lots more. Since the revolution of “internet of things” in 2010, we are expecting this will drive trillions in economic value as it permeates consumer and business life by 2018. The Apple smart watch will work with home devices. Samsung already bought Smart-Home startup Smart Things for $US 200 million. Google is developing an app for all the everyday things in our life. All the giants in the technology field are already prepared for “internet of things” battle, to gain market shares and grow. Do you think this hand writing keyboard feature on Microsoft watch would be able to compete in the market? Are you expecting a better feature will be released in the future? Would owning a smart watch make you feel more powerful and controllable? However, there is no doubt that the competition between these companies in smart wear market will only bring us to a better world in the future with the sciences. We will be surprised.

  1. Thanks for the update! This type of writing would drive me insane! It’s like going back to handwriting but only letter by letter. I thought it would be something like a projected screen where you can type on it haha. But in relation to your questions, I definitely think companies are going to come up with something more sophisticated and also something that can replace the traditional phone. In the future, we won’t need phones!

It is important that companies do market these new technologies properly. If customers don’t see the benefit or the reason to changing what they are currently using, they might be in trouble. However, the smart watches are definitely integrating into our lives. I still don’t own one, I’m going to wait until I feel like I really need it :).

    1. Thanks for your comment Melissa. I agree that personally, I don’t like this feature very much as it is a bit inconvenient, but I guess that this is the only option they can come up now because of the tiny watch screen 😛 However, I think Microsoft should have tested this product before launch cause if the percentage of dislike is high, they still have a chance to come up with second option or last minute change. This smart wear industry is creasing competitiveness, therefore we will have more than 3 products to consider in the future when we want to buy a smart watch. 🙂 Enjoy the power of being a customer!

      1. That is true, they won’t introduce a product unless they know they can get a certain percentage of the market share. I wonder what’s after watches? Tattoos? (stick on ones of course).

  2. I’m actually super excited for any form of internet of things that will be released in the future! I’m willing to try out this hand writing keyboard and use it to see what uses it could do to my life! That makes me a bit worried though because the next generation would be so used to having Internet of Things, whereas our generation would be learning to adapt to them… I don’t wanna be a pot calling the kettle black, since I always feel that way of my parents ;P

    1. Thanks for your comment Elizabeth. I think the technology is changing quickly but we still have sometime to adapt it and dont be afraid that you will be behind everyone. I am sure whether smart watch or other smart devices developed, their final purpose is making life easier, not harder. You, me and our classmates are their target market, and we will get update as soon as new products launch. I am getting excited for this too.

  3. Haha yeah! That’s a positive go! Already it is difficult to handle Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, WordPress, SnapChat, Email, Moodle(:p) all at once. Lets hope the internet of things will eventually combine all of these social networks together to make it less complex for one to handle 10 forms of social media in one day! 😀

      1. Read through the article. Number 2 is so ridiculous and sad… So it was because of those 2 employees that caused Domino to invent the Pizza Tracker for their guests…. That app eventually became Domino’s unique selling point. Perhaps they were angels in devils’ disguise after all.
